September Newsletter

Welcome back to returning students and a special welcome to new members of the Shepherd Montessori Private Catholic School!

This is an exciting time in your child’s life.  It is quite natural for children to become excited and anxious about this new chapter in their lives.  We are very eager to begin our new school year and look forward to a motivating, inspiring fun filled one!

Use the calendar and newsletters as tools for discussing what your child did at school that day.

We would like to invite all of our parents to our Open House and refreshments on Saturday September 15th from 10AM-2PM.  This will be a great opportunity to start the relationship & valuable communication between teacher and parents which will lead to a great outcome for the student.  An extended invite to other family and friends is welcome!

* Please send your child to school with a backpack daily. Make sure to keep an extra set of clothes in case of any accidents (label all clothing).

* A pair of indoor shoes are required for your child to keep at school for the year –This is to encourage independence and refine “self help skills” if your child outgrows his/her shoes we will let you know.  Children will change into their shoes at the beginning/end of each school day.

* Every Friday is our “show & tell” day. Each child is asked to share what they have brought in. Only one item please – (books, pictures, special items…are all good ideas).

* Scholastic book orders are due every last Wednesday of each month.

* Please be aware that we are a NUT FREE school.  We ask that no food is sent in with your child; aside from their bagged lunch, daily snacks are provided by the school.

* Our school telephone may not always be answered throughout the busy times of our day. So please leave a message and someone will return your message before the end of the day.

* The School door will be locked at the beginning of each class – 9:00am and 1:00pm. Please plan ahead and arrive on time. A teacher will be outside for yard duty in the fenced area at both 8:50am and 12:50pm to receive the children and to make the drop off a quick process.

* If your child will be late or absent for the day, please advise the school.

* During our snowy months, school closure and/or bus cancellation will be left on our machine by 7am. Please call in before bringing your child to school.

*Reminder to read and sign the ill health form, a requirement from the Ministry of Health. If your child is too ill to participate in all school activities, please do not send them to school.  It is important to have someone available to care for your child if they are ill or if there is school closures and parents need to be at work.

* We would also like to welcome all new parents to our parent committee.  Every year we try and organize 1 major fundraiser.  New ideas are always helpful! Please email us at if you would like to join the team!
